Weinmann Somnolab

Postby linuxgeek » Mon Aug 20, 2012 9:24 pm

Does anyone use this Weinmann Somnolab system?

I need to tell someone how to convert to EDF, but I've never used the system or seen it before. The company is in Germany. Any help is appreciated.

From what I see here it says they write to EDF, which to me means that their file structure is natively EDF.

I have searched the relevant PDFs for export or EDF and got no returns.

I saw that too, but I don't think it means it's the native format since there are other vendors that it says writes EDF that only exports.

I searched their manuals too, but didn't see anything. Probably not many people in the US who have this system. Thanks tho.

Descriptions of other software describe "converters." I understood "write to" as native.

Please share "do tell, do tell!" as Bugs Bunny would say.

Ok, not sure if anyone is interested.
-------------------------------------------------
to help you I need to know

if you are using SOMNOlab (classic) software or SOMNOlab for SOMNOcheckmicro software.
Which version of the software you are using
Which hardware you are using (SOMNOlab2, SOMNOcheck2, SOMNOcheck micro etc.)

You can read and write edf files if you are using the SOMNOlab (classic) software and if you have activated “SOMNOlab” or “SOMNOlab2” in Extras/Options/General:

Restart SOMNOlab after this changes.

Then you can work with edf files:
Import a recording
How to import a recording in EDF format and convert it into SOMNOlab format:
Note: This function is deactivated for SOMNOcheck micro recordings.

1. Close any open recording.
2. Click Open recording in the File menu.
3. Select the desired EDF recording and click OK.
4. The converted file will be opened. It can be saved in the directory of EDF files whose names end with ".lab".

Tip:
Files that were not recorded by Weinmann diagnostic devices but were imported in EDF format cannot be analyzed by the automatic analysis.

Export a recording
How to export a SOMNOlab recording in EDF format:
Note: This function is deactivated for SOMNOcheck micro recordings.

Note: you can only export EDF data if you have a dongle.
1. Open the file to be exported.
2. Click Write EDF data in the File menu.
3. The exported file will be saved in the directory of the corresponding .lab file.
