scoring REM on Alice 6-G3????

Postby dreamweaver333 » Wed Jul 15, 2015 2:08 am

We just switched to Alice 6 & i'm having trouble scoring REM. No matter how I hook up chin leads (snaps/gold cups/etc.), there is no difference in chin amplitude between NREM & REM sleep. Having to score on eye movements only, which is pretty lame. Anybody else have this issue? Suggestions?

I'm sure you have tried this, you turned up your gain?

Yes & chin trace shows arousals; but, whatever gain is set on, there should still be a decrease during REM sleep vs NREM.
Am I right?

TECHNICALLY... As long as EMG is the LOWEST during stage REM epochs, nothing says that they HAVE TO BE LOWER than the other stages, just the other stages CANNOT be lower. So in effect, they could all be the same level (as long as other NREM epochs are not lower than REM epochs) and you would not violate the rules.

I. Scoring Stage R
1. Score in accordance with the following definitions:

Rapid eye movements (REM): Conjugate, irregular, sharply peaked eye movements with an initial deflection usually lasting <500 msec.

Low chin EMG tone: Baseline EMG activity in the chin derivation no higher than in any other sleep stage and usually at the lowest level of the entire recording.

I like to have my gain hi so I can appreciate very subtle EMG changes. Its just the way I roll.

Have you checked impedances and/or filter settings?

Dreamweaver, did you ever get the REM/chin EMG issue resolved? I recently wrote a post addressing the poor chin EMG tonus on Alice 6/ G3, especially compared to Alice 5, where the chin tonus imho is exceptional and REM atonia is very clear.

Did you try to talk with tech support about this problem.

G3 Nightwatch autoscoring question

Postby Tremontsleep » Mon May 09, 2016 4:43 am

Does anyone know how to set the autoscoring on the G3 for the Sa02's to be highlighted when there is a 3 or 4% drop?
Thank you!!

Which setting have you ticked for it, absolute or relative?
