Perks and benefits

Postby Mandy » Fri Jul 11, 2003 6:50 am

What kind of perks or benefits have you been offered (or heard of other sleep techs receiving) when starting a new job?

I've been offered $1000 sign-on bonuses + another $1000 after six months, moving expenses up to $2000, plus a free place to stay (motel with a kitchenette) for up to a month while getting settled.

I've heard of other techs who travel a long distance receiving a free motel room for three days/nights while they work their shifts and then go back home each week. I've also heard of techs having their student loans paid off :D depending on what type of contract they sign.

One perk that I currently have is I get to attend the annual conference every June. If I don't want to attend that, I can go to some other seminar, conference or school, all expenses paid.

This isn't related to sleep techs but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. Most hospitals are looking for ways to recruits RN's and I heard of one that came up with a perk I've never heard of. They are offering free housecleaning once a week :D among many other benefits.

You have to commit to a certain number of years here and do some cross-training in EEG for a couple months. We've been using this for in-house applicants due to the fact that it's hard to attract people to a smaller area.

TexasSleepguy, you get a retention bonus every 6 months? Now if I got that I'd be owed quite a chunk of change here. You're welcome to apply.

We get to go to the APT meeting each year. Or at least one of us goes - we rotate each year.

And we get a good Christmas bonus. It was $300 the first year, $500 the next year, and then $1000 this past Christmas. Can't wait until Christmas 2004!!! :!:
