Salary for Scoring records?

Postby rip van winkle » Wed Feb 21, 2007 9:46 pm

Just wondering what people do? Are there folks out there scoring full time?
I wonder how many records you can score in one day, if you do it 5 days a week.

I score per diem at 35 dollars a record from home, am I getting paid to low?
I can do all ten records in one day, but if I had to do that day in and out I would see a montage in my dreams I think.

topped

I want to know the answer to this also? Is $30 a record too little? What if you are just "cleaning it up" after an auto scoring program runs through it?

I know an experienced RPSGT who won't score for less than $70 a record. "Cleaning it up" after auto scoring? Yipes, I've tried that and it takes me longer than if I scored it manually from the start. With the Alice 5 system that I'm currently using, I'll let the system auto-score snores and sometimes leg movements but that's it.

With that said, I do not get paid extra for scoring at work. I'm amazed that there are techs who do get paid more if they score when they are already getting paid decently. It's part of the job for me.

pay for scoring studies

Postby timothy.wolfe@csauh.com » Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:14 pm

I score studies every day 40 hr/week at a hospital sleep lab and get paid a normal salary for a RPSGT. I will not score a study from home for less then $50.00/study but this is for other labs that I do on the side. :D

You can score for $1000/study if you can get it. Just be aware that a RPSGT will come along that will say I can do it for $999, then another will come and say I can do it for $995, then the next one will say I can do it for $40 with a 48 hour turn around, have a sleep MD that will sign for another $50 and the DME will deliver it tomorrow. I have seen it happen.

Old thread, but nope. The laws are against price fixing for billing insurances/Medicare.

Private entities discussing what they charge/should charge, especially in the context of various locations throughout the country seems fine.

Andrew can always over rule me though

LOL Somno! I don't score from home anymore but was getting $100 or $150/test. I honestly can't remember which. $35 is way too low in my opinion.

At my lab we can score from home. It's three hours OT pay and for me that's about $90. I'm sure some of the people I work with who make a higher wage are getting $100 or very close to it. So, yeah, I've heard of it.

Yes, and even double that on one occasion. I don't know the particulars of the situation but I'm guessing this person got some sort of sweetheart deal from a doc they know. There's little chance of someone today of openly advertising their scoring services for $200+ a record.

Yes, it was a special deal. I left a lab, they needed a scorer, I did it until no longer needed. Remember the population base/work force is much smaller in the wild west than other areas of the US.
