RPSGT Average Pay Scale

Postby o0rangeo » Thu Aug 07, 2008 8:26 pm

I would just like to get a national pay average for RPSGT only.

PSG techs use the other poll.

This is only for base pay /hr. Do not include your benefits.

Yeah I guess that 30+ could be a supervisor. I hope its not a night tech, i need to move where there at. Oh that could be LINGY and RED as they have the best bosses ever and get paid per study!

You can make >$30 as a night tech in the SF area. You can also pay >$3,000 a month rent for a small apartment.

For sleep tech who works for hospitals, not for private sleep labs.

30+ and full cover med benefits -just a regular situation

Also assuming that posted wages are at the peak of a tech's potential per hour wages, shift differential, weekend diff etc. This has been discussed all over the place, the average in this field is meaningless. Here in the DFW area alone the same RPSGT can earn between $17-$30+ per hour depending on the employer, and some of the lowest paying labs demand the most of the technologist. The cost of living here is low compared to most U.S. major metropolitan areas, but the market saturation is such that most labs, whether they be free standing or hospital based, have many empty rooms, and many have nights with no patients at all. A more telling survey would be, how often does a registered tech not get to work a scheduled shift due to lack of patients?

I had a buddy that was a RPSGT and worked in sleep for only 2 years that made $32/hr. He also managed 2 labs. Thats my motivation right there! :D

The money really does vary. And yes, Lingy and I are did get lucky with our new owner. The cost of living here is nothing compared to New England or California. So it's substantial. But we busted our rumps for our previous owner and only made about $13/hr after 2 years. And then were offered $16/hr for getting registered, no night or weekend dif. That's not to say that we earned or deserve the increase we got, but rather were just very blessed.

Just under $23 and I manage, market, flip flop my schedule to run Friday night patients every week, and will be scoring ASAP........... After joining this forum, I realize that as a hospital based sleep center, I am definetly underpaid!
