Assigning pts to Techs

Postby MrBig » Mon Sep 26, 2016 5:40 am

Hi, all. In labs where you have multiple Techs on duty, how are you assigning the pts to the Techs? Thanks.

What if the charge tech always takes the easiest pts?

I allow the techs to choose patients themselves. Usually, they take the patient that they had before ( in returning pts). They are usually fair with each other. If one tech only has 1 patient, they always pick up the slack and help out the other tech. Not an issue

That is why the physician Director is looking at cases and how well they are performed, and questioning why the charge tech did the 40yo titration while the newbie had the 89yo CHF ASV titration. Maybe the newbie will unseat the charge tech...who knows.

a pt returning for titration or repeat will usually have the same tech, if they are working. Otherwise, we just take them in order, and rotate who gets 1 patient. Sometimes we will split up the CPAP patients so a tech only has 1 CPAP.
