NY Deadline

I need any advice or information that anyone have that can help. I did the A-STEP program in NJ and got my trainee license in MAY 2015. I got a job in NY and worked for the past 10 months. I am scheduled to take my BPRT exam later this month. NY just pass the law that now says you have to get an 2 year degree to be able to registered. I spoke to Ann and she said there is nothing I can do but either be a receptionist or go back to school. Is this effecting anyone else. They require 18 months of over 21 hours per week work hours but I've only had my license for 10 months but I've worked much more than 21 hours per week. I would like to know if anyone knows if I can get registered in NJ and continue to work in NY? or in general if anyone can help me to get registered or know anywhere that is hiring techs with experience but not registered.

We didn't "just passed" this law, it was passed in 2012 and has been waiting for the required 4 PSG educational programs to be established in the state for the closure of the special grandfathering pathway to "authorization." All good things must come to an end.

The grandfathering period for people without a credential expired February 3, 2014 - so if you were hired and working in NY for the last 10 months and did not have your sleep credential or your NY State Authorization, you were already working illegally. Only businesses that are operating illegally in NY will currently hire a tech with experience who is not Authorized to work in the state. NJ licenses do not count in NY. Sorry to say, but you missed the boat - if you wanted to work in NY without a formal sleep education, you would have needed to obtain your RPSGT and submit your application for NY Authorization prior to last week.
