In home attended sleep studies

Postby Sleepe1 » Wed Apr 17, 2013 8:36 pm

Has anyone done this or know of anyone doing it on a consistent basis? I would like to add this service for pediatrics in the home.

HST is not covered for peds.
If you are planning on doing ambulatory polysomnography 95807 or 95808 then you will have to stay in the home during the test.

Attended PSG is 95810 regardless of setting as long as recording requirements are met.

When I first started I did MANY fully attended PSGs and PAPs in the home setting with full PSG hook up (Compumedics P-Series) and titration (PB KnightStar 335).

Cumbersome, yes. Doable, absolutely.

BUt 95807 and 95808 are smaller montage recordings, and 95807 mimics HST except with a tech in attendance and behavorial notes etc. I have always wondered how the true HST get to have their patients turn onto back for some good ole Supine sleep. Oh silly me, they don't record sleep...I plumb fergot.

In the old days we did Home Sleep Studies not to be confused with HST. Full NPSG/PAP in the patients home. We started out with the Aquatron 1000P and then switched to Alice 4. 100ft of cable and the whole nine yards. Insurance companies for the most part struggled with it because of the sleep docs on the boards that didn't want entrepreneurs messing with their sleep study income. We then migrated to hospitals with our business model. This was the late 90's. We loved it. Never did Peds though.
