Been out of Sleep for awhile / looking to get back in...

Postby Prote » Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:53 pm

Hello.
I have been out of Sleep for a few years. Thinking about getting back in. I am currently in San Diego California. Fairly new to the state yet and wondering where to start.
I believe my registrations have passed. I was both RPSGT and RST, Wondering what the cost is. Also I hear there is a new credential out there and what are the requirements for that?
I have good experience. Managed a lab for awhile, also worked on the business side of sleep for a bit.

Can anyone tell me about the labs in San Diego. Who is good to work for? shifts, 3 12s vs 4 10s. systems they use. Does the VAMC require state license or is it waived with VA.

Do most sleep techs here have Bachelors ore higher?

If anyone here is from San Diego and willing to chat off of here I would be open to that.

thank you

wow cannot believe you let those credentials lapse.

They are only active for 5 years each, but there are grace periods regarding renewal. Check with the website to see. The only one that probably means anything is the RPSGT. go to www.brpt.org. You can check the credential by just searching your name.

It is beneficial to renew because it only costs about 150, whereas taking the test will cause you to wait while you get your clinical experience, and then $450.

Good Luck
