Scoring just REM/NREM....

Should scoring simply include WAKE, NREM, and REM? Not N1, N2, and N3? If not, why?

20 years ago I invented and published on a single channel EEG based analysis (z-Ratio) that could determine Lite Sleep, Deep Sleep and Wake with no problem.

The ability to do away with staging has been in our possession for over 2 decades.

With 3 electrodes I can give you an EEG channel to derive z-ratio, EMG and EOG for REM, so that would give us Wake, Lite sleep (1&2), REM and DEEP sleep (3) in 1 second increments.
