Postby joeyjpaul » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:55 am

HELP !!! I can't get the pulse ox to work in one of my rooms. Alice 5, have tried every pulse ox in the building, fingers, toes, headbox switched , restarted study, computer restarted, alice restarted, still nothing. It came on for about 20 minutes, but went out again. Help please, I need suggestions, as I have a pt in there. Thanks in advance

Not sure what kind of connector Alice has, but i have found that sometimes the 9-pin D connector of Nellcor and Masimo become "lazy" and don't make good connections with the female connectors, so I take a firm blade of some type (e.g. key) and displace the pins slightly (.5mm) so that they are slightly off alignment and make the connector be firm to push in as re-aligns the pins out of shape. This then puts new lateral forces on the pins making for improved contact with the female socket.

Hope that came through.

There are all manner of connectors for Masimo. I was tlaking about the 9-pin connector seen here with the flip up plastic clip.

I know of one lab that doesn't remove the oximeter connection from the Alice headbox. Unplugging and plugging it back in frequently will cause the problems you're describing.
