Joint Commission-Ambulatory Care Accreditaion

Has anyone received accreditation through the Joint Commission? If so any information you would like to share about the process would be greatly appreciated.

Picky picky picky.

They complained about our alcohol dispensers (pump type) and that the contents were not lablelled for expiration (OK) but that the metal (stainless steel) top bowl could get contaminated. I asked how if it is swimming in a solution of alcohol, they said Because they said so. TJC, The Joke Commission. Voluntary organization making sure they get their $$$ out of fear.

Thanks Somnonaut,

Well if that was the only issue that had with you sounds like you did great! Did they review any type of records? Maintenance, Safety Round, Employee Education/Credentialing, Policy & Procedures....

Yes all of the above and the facility had their respective professional onsite to handle the queries. Their P&P worries are more physical plant/safety related and not the practice of sleep medicine as AASM is interested. ALl of the lab specific items, Education, CPR cert, etc etc. were records we provided.

I had a question along this issue as well. With the new Medicare/Noridian guidelines that rolled out last month for certain jurisdictions, is anyone for certain that the JC Ambulatory Care Accreditation will cover the need for a sleep specific accreditation?

The LCD states the credentialing criteria: AASM or TJC sleep specific credentials for Ambulatory care sleep center or ACHC. so it is clearly wrote that TJC accreditation is acceptable (at least for now).

What if you are a HOPD? Hospital Outpatient Department? Not located in the hospital but affiliated.

What are you looking for Murcie?? You keep asking ambiguous questions.

Just tell us what you need. I am sure your questions have been answered in the posts on this thread alone.......
